Selective pallet racking

Enter load dimensions and weight, bay geometry and module count. The diagram on the right shows one bay and a loaded row; you can add the result to the warehouse planner.

Switching modes keeps your inputs.

! Limits of the result
  • The selected profiles and components are listed in the preliminary specification, but their allowable capacity has not been confirmed by a published table revision.
  • Row connectors, anchors and protection quantities cannot be specified without connection, floor and equipment details.

Complete the selection steps and confirm your inputs before transferring the result.

What has been calculated

The calculation is deterministic: geometry, repeated component counts, nominal capacity and required loads come solely from the entered values. The selected profile's structural capacity, price, anchoring and connections are not assigned automatically.

Why these fields are required

Fields correspond to the selected system's calculation model: load dimensions and weight, carrier, module geometry, levels, environment, equipment, access and flow are recorded separately.

Confirmed parameters are saved in the project and sent to the engineer with the calculation.

Calculator guide

Step 1 of 6

Choose a mode and a task

Simple mode guides you through task, load, geometry and review. Advanced mode provides every input and all 27 catalogue types.

Tip
Switching modes keeps inputs; choosing another rack type loads its starting configuration.

What will you store and how will you access it?

Choose a task and a system. Structural components can be assigned by an engineer.

Choosing another rack type loads its starting configuration. Switching modes does not change the type.

Dimensions and weights contain starting values. Replace them with actual load and warehouse data.

What the configurator calculates

The racking calculator determines repeating-bay and full-row geometry, level count, nominal storage positions and a preliminary structural scope. Pallet, shelving, drive-in, cantilever, mezzanine, flow, push-back, Pallet Shuttle, archive, mobile and special systems use different input sets. Results update when values change and show dimensions in consistent units. This makes the assumptions checkable, supports comparison of several configurations and gives the manager a reproducible brief instead of an unstructured description without dimensions.

Inputs to prepare

A sound preliminary calculation needs maximum—not average—load dimensions, including packaging and projections. Specify pallet or container type, unit weight, units per level, required clearance, clear height and available row length. Cantilever systems need bundle length and at least two stable support points; lane systems need batch depth and pallet quality; mezzanines need platform length and width, support grid, use and live load for each level. Equipment and aisle data must come from the selected model's data sheet, not merely from a vehicle class name.

Why system diagrams differ

The diagram beside the result explains how the selected system works. A drive-in block shows pallets deep inside the lane and the access face. A flow system shows inclined roller tracks, loading and picking zones and FIFO direction. Push-back shows nested carts and gravity return to the operating face, while Shuttle shows rails, pallets and the channel shuttle. A cantilever row changes cross-section between single- and double-sided arrangements and shows long goods. Mezzanine levels carry separate use labels so storage, picking and work areas are not collapsed into one ambiguous field.

How to interpret the result

Nominal capacity is the mathematical number of positions within the entered geometry; it does not guarantee throughput or a safe load. The preliminary specification lists the main frames, beams, rails, arms, decking and other components without selecting an unverified profile or inventing a price. Warnings flag values that need clarification. Before a quotation is issued, load weight and position, component combinations, stability, bracing, anchors, floor condition, impact protection, aisles, escape routes and fire requirements are checked. Changing one input may require a new engineering revision.

Move to the plan and order

The current configuration—module length, depth, capacity and bay count—is transferred to the plan. The row is positioned in metres and can be rotated and combined with columns, doors, walls and service zones. The calculation and plan form the request scope. The client follows documents and stages, while staff work only within assigned roles. Original inputs remain stored with the approval history through specification.
